1. Using Studodo
Studodo is a free study tool for personal, non-commercial use, made by an independent developer in Virginia, USA. You need to be at least 13 to create an account. If you're under 18, please get a parent's or guardian's OK before creating an account (the app asks you to; it can't check). Parents can use the parent tools below, and your parent or guardian should review these terms with you.
2. Your account
Keep your password private and use one you don't use elsewhere. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Your username must not be offensive, pretend to be someone else (including Studodo staff or a teacher), or include personal information such as your real name, age, school, phone, email, address or social media handles.
3. Rules
Don't:
- harass, bully or threaten anyone;
- cheat leaderboards or challenges, attack or overload the app, or try to access other people's data;
- create a class unless you're a teacher, tutor or coach who is 18 or older, or use a class for anything but your students' studying; or
- copy, scrape, republish or sell the app, its code or its content (lessons, questions, flashcards, explanations).
We can remove scores or suspend accounts that break these rules.
4. Classes and teachers
Classes are an optional extra that each student chooses to join with their own account (ages 13 and up; classes for students under 13 aren't supported yet). Only teachers, tutors and coaches who are 18 or older can create classes or teacher accounts, in the app or on the web teacher dashboard.
Studodo has no agreements with schools or districts and isn't a school's official record or grading system. Please don't make joining a requirement for a grade, keep your official records in your school's own systems, and follow your school's rules on student apps. A school or district that needs a data agreement can email support@studodo.com.
Teachers: use students' names, your labels, accommodation settings, results and CSV downloads only to teach your students. You're responsible for class data you download and for keeping it under your school's rules. Assignment titles and questions you write must be appropriate for students, must be yours or allowed to use, and must not include contact details, links or personal information about anyone; they're filtered, students can report them, and we can remove them. Don't put sensitive information, such as health, disability or status details, in labels (our server refuses common ones). Scores on assigned work are practice data reported by the app, not a secure assessment: don't use them as official grades.
5. Gems and gifts
Gems are earned by studying and are never sold. They have no money value and can't be bought, sold, traded or cashed out. You can spend them in the shop or on gifts for friends; a gift you send can't be taken back. Don't use extra accounts or anything else to farm gems or gifts. We can fix balances that were inflated by bugs or cheating.
6. Zero tolerance for objectionable content
Studodo has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. The only things other students can see are usernames, cartoon avatars, achievements and study stats (XP, streaks, scores), plus gifts, high fives and pre-written nudges between friends, only in the social features someone turns on. There's no chat or messaging, and no free text between students. Every username passes a strict server-side filter (profanity and slurs in many languages, look-alike letters, personal info, impersonation) before it's shown. The other typed text comes from teachers: class names, assignment titles and teacher-written questions. They're filtered for offensive words, links, emails, phone numbers and social media handles, and students can report them. Teacher reminders and announcements are pre-written templates.
- You can report anyone with the flag button next to their username on leagues and unit leaderboards, or from their profile card. Choose "Asked to meet" or "Made me feel unsafe" for anything that worries you: we review those first.
- You can block any person from the same menu or their profile card. Blocking ends any friendship or request (and friend streak), hides each of you from the other everywhere (including search), stops their friend requests, gifts and nudges, removes their unopened gifts, and they aren't told.
- If 3 or more different people report the same person within 30 days, that person is automatically hidden from everyone else and their username is replaced until we review it; repeat offenders are removed.
- You can report a class name with the flag on the class, and leave the class anytime. If 3 or more different people report a class name, it's hidden from students until the teacher renames it. Assignment titles and teacher-written questions can be reported the same way; 3 reports within 30 days, or one from a student aged 13–15, hide them until we review them.
- We review child-safety reports first, usually within 24 hours, and other reports as quickly as we can. Offending content is removed, and the users responsible are suspended or removed from Studodo.

8. No guarantees
Studodo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep content accurate, but lessons, answers and score estimates can contain mistakes and don't guarantee any grade or test score. Always check with your teacher and official materials. The app may change or pause, and progress could be lost, so export a backup now and then (Settings → Your data → Export). If we ever shut Studodo down, we'll give at least 60 days' notice in the app, keep downloads working for teachers and students until then, and delete the data afterward.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Studodo isn't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, grades or opportunities, arising from use of the app. Our total liability for any claim about Studodo is limited to $50 or the amount you've paid us, whichever is greater. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Apple
If you got Studodo from the App Store, these terms are between you and Studodo, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app, its content, support or any claims about it, and Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. You confirm that you're not in a country under a U.S. government embargo and aren't on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This doesn't take away any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the place where you live. If a part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Before taking any legal step, please email support@studodo.com so we can try to sort it out.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If we do, we'll change the date at the top. For a material change we'll give at least 30 days' notice in the app (and by email to teachers) before it applies; using Studodo after that means you accept the new terms. If your school has signed a data privacy agreement with us, its terms control where they differ from these. Questions? Email support@studodo.com.
